Job Description:

As the Rheumatology Database Administrator, you will run and improve the DAWN database every day. You will keep patient data safe, correct, and easy to access. You need to be able to plan your work well and work on your own. You will also teach and help other staff use the database properly.

Job Roles and Responsibilities:

Your main tasks will be:

  • Daily Database Administration: You will manage the DAWN database every day. Make sure all information is right and up to date. Plan your work, check database results, help staff with questions, and set meetings about the database.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Follow all rules about data safety and privacy to protect patient information.
  • Staff Training and Support: Teach and support staff on how to use the DAWN system properly.
  • Auditing and Reporting: Do audits as asked by the Rheumatology clinical lead. Make monthly reports from DAWN and share them at team meetings.
  • System Integration and Liaison: Work with other IT systems like patient records, emails, and intranet. Talk to the software company for updates and fixes.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect important data from hospital systems and staff quickly and accurately. You will learn how to use DAWN well for this.
  • Information Extraction and Query Resolution: Enter data and make reports. Help answer questions from the clinical team to support good decisions.

Job Requirements:

To do well, you need good education and attention to detail.

  • Qualifications:
    • Must have good general education up to A levels or NVQ level 3.
    • It is good to have NVQ level 3 in Business & Administration or similar.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Must be able to handle a busy workload and be very accurate.
    • Must work well with others and be flexible to help your team.
    • Knowing hospital computer systems like PAS and SF4 is a plus.
  • Knowledge:
    • Know how outpatient booking systems work and be able to meet deadlines.

This job needs a criminal record check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
