Job Description:
As Site Senior – Lead Theatre Practitioner, you will help keep and improve our focus on patient care and smooth theatre operations. You will make sure the theatre runs well and safely in Chippenham.
Clinical Leadership and Accountability:
You will lead the team to give safe and high-quality care before, during, and after surgery. You will make sure all care follows the rules and is very safe. You will keep infection risks low and follow safety rules. You will talk with patients and families, listen to their worries, and make sure they feel respected. Keeping good care is very important.
Operational Excellence:
You will run daily theatre activities, making sure lists are well planned and there are no delays or cancellations. You will work with surgeons and others to fix problems fast. You will watch for risks, report them, and help stop problems before they happen. You will check performance and fix any issues to keep things working well.
Patient Safety and Quality Governance:
Keeping patients safe is very important. You will follow safety rules and lead incident reports and investigations. You will help the team find ways to improve care and make things better. You will also check infection controls and do audits to keep safety high.
Team Development and Leadership:
You will lead the team with clear guidance and good communication. You will help team members learn and grow through training and support. You will help staff feel happy and safe at work, and guide them to support services if needed.
Safe Staffing, Resource and Budget Management:
You will plan staffing so the theatre has enough skilled people. You will make rosters 6 weeks ahead and ask for help if there are staffing problems. You will manage equipment and supplies, and work with finance teams to keep budgets on track. You will make sure all equipment is safe and working well.
Empowering the Team:
You will encourage staff to share ideas and be part of decisions. You will support their learning and celebrate their achievements. You will help the team feel valued and involved.
Continuous Quality Improvement (QI) and Innovation:
You will use data and feedback to improve care and how the theatre works. You will support new ideas and help the team try better ways of working. You will join meetings to align improvements with the organization’s goals.
Patient and Family-Centred Care:
You will make sure care respects what patients want and their cultural needs. You will ask patients and families for feedback and use it to improve care. You will look at complaints and compliments to learn and do better.
Professional Practice:
You will show the team how to work well, use evidence, and follow rules. You will lead with honesty, respect, and strong commitment to good care.
Health & Safety, Business Continuity, and Emergency Preparedness:
You will make sure safety rules are followed, like sharps handling and fire safety. You will prepare for emergencies to keep care running with little interruption. You will train staff on emergency steps and keep safety policies easy to find. You will review risks and learn from incidents to keep improving safety.
Safeguarding:
Safeguarding Children: Everyone at IHG must protect children. You must know and follow child protection rules. You must do training to keep skills up to date.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Essential: Degree or similar qualification.
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC).
- Proof of ongoing learning.
- Desirable: Immediate Life Support (ILS) and leadership training.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Essential: Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making.
- Commitment to learning and safety.
- Clear writing and speaking skills.
- Good with electronic patient records.
- Desirable: Knowledge of clinical rules, finances, and team leadership.
Experience:
- Essential: Clinical experience in perioperative care with leadership.
- Experience working in teams.
- Scrub-trained for day cases.
- Desirable: Governance and quality improvement experience.
Personal Competencies:

Additional Requirements:
- Able to travel between sites.

Salary and Benefits
We offer a good salary for this senior role. You get a 6% pension contribution and 25 days’ leave plus your birthday off. Bank holidays are extra. You can buy up to 2 more weeks leave. You work Monday to Friday with no evening or holiday shifts. We support your learning and offer a friendly, flexible workplace.
